John Donald Steed Jr. 50, passed away on January 17th in Thomasville, GA after facing health challenges, and is now resting in Gods care. He graduated from Johnson City High School and went on to Cornell University where he earned his Bachelors and MBA in addition to a Masters in political management from George Washington University. He was a participant in the ROTC Program at Cornell University, and spent 6 years as a Captain in the US Army. Through the years, he became an accomplished runner; competing for Cornell and the US Army.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Dr. Donald and Doris Steed also his maternal grandparents John and Elizabeth Madigan.
He is survived by his wife Megan (Sorrell) Steed and boys Jack and Michael Steed, also parents John D. Steed Sr. (JoAnn) and Kathleen Steed Cullen (Tony), also his brothers Christopher Steed nieces Alva and Della and Brendan Steed (Helen) nephews Yianni, Demetri and Niko and Tommy (Krissy) Steed nieces Olivia and Abigael. John is also survived by Uncles Jack (Rhonda) Madigan, and George Tomko, Aunt Sue (Angelo) Fabrizi and Uncle James (Julie) Steed, as well as many other loving members of the Madigan, Steed, Fabrizi, Sullivan, Tomko, Harrick, O’Malley, McMahon, Sorrell families.
John was a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins, the St Louis Cardinals and an avid Bruce Springsteen fan.
A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization John had the privilege to work with that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of American military members and first responders who have been killed or disabled while serving.
