Mobley and Margaret Nixon Mobley of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Nick and Goode. Mr. Mobley attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA and Emory University and the University of Georgia. Raised in Pelham and Thomasville he became an avid sportsman and persued his love of hunting and fishing to the fullest for his entire life thru out South Georgia and North Florida. ?Captain John?, as he was known to all, decided to turn his hobbies into business when he opened and ran ?The Gun and Tackle Shop? in downtown Thomasville for many years. Many a young and even seasoned hunters and fishermen learned a lot of the ?tricks of the trade? by visiting his shop. One of the best events occurred when ?Captain John? and his fishing crew would display their catch of Giant Tarpon at the front of the store for photo shoots by the local newspaper. As much as he loved fishing, there was no doubt his number 1 sport was Duck Shooting. Perusing Ring-necked Ducks with his best ? Hunting? Buddies? Nat Williams, Bill Owens and his sons and grandsons was his True Passion! He became known as the ?Best Duck Shooter? in the area with his prolific ability to take doubles and triples with his trusty Winchester Model 12. Captain John later moved to Tallahassee and joined Kevin Kelly?s Sporting Goods where he helped ?Kevin?s? to grow and later returned to Thomasville to help open and manage ?Kevin?s? of Thomasville. He was instrumental in helping the start up of Ducks Unlimited chapters thru out South Georgia and North Florida and was always eager to share his love and knowledge of the outdoors with everyone. His interest also included being a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and a great love of Swing and Jazz music. He is survived by his wife, Rosezine Mobley of Tallahassee, and his five children, John W. ?Jock? Mobley, IV of Pensacola, FL, Scott L. Mobley of Atlanta, GA, Ned H. Mobley of Los Angeles, CA, Margaret M. Thompson Russ of Thomasville, Gordon H.
