John Russell "Jack" Bryan, Jr

Memorial services for John Russell "Jack" Bryan Jr., 81 of Thomasville will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Bob Dixon will officiate and there will be a private burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bryan passed away March 24. Born August 3, 1931 in Luke, MD; he was the son of the late John Russell Bryan and Emma Lyons Bryan. He was married to Jean Darlene Wright who survives. He was an educator and career civil servant. He retired from the Federal Government after working over forty years in the disaster preparedness programs. He also served his country through service in the U. S. Army Chemical Corps from 1953- 1955. He was active in his church serving on the Administrative Board and teaching Sunday school. He was active in his community serving on the board of the Thomasville Music and Drama Troupe; President of several parent teacher organizations and membership in the Thomasville Rotary Club and the Elks Lodge of Tallahassee, Florida. He also was assigned as a reservist disaster assistance employee with the Federal Emergency Agency FEMA. Other survivors include his children, Denise Watt Wylie of Thomasville, Valerie Odom Steve of Thomasville and John Bryan Donna of Metcalf, sisters Virginia Bryan Flick of McCool, Maryland and Barbara Bryan Murphy of Westernport, Maryland. He is also survived by five grandchildren Wylie Watt Abbey of Thomasville, Bryan Watt of Tallahassee, Florida, Jenna Odom of Cairo, Sam Odom of Thomasville and Haley Bryan of Metcalf and one great granddaughter Ada Watt of Thomasville.
