Services for Joseph Aaron McMath, 24, of Thomasville are 3 Pm, Friday, January 16, 2009 at the First Church of The Nazarene. The Rev. Rick Mann will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. McMath died January 13, 2009 at Archbold Hospital. Born April 11, 1984 in Thomasville, he was the son of David & Linda Copeland McMath, who survives. Mr. McMath was a 2002 graduate of Thomasville High School, was a member of the THS band, was a veteran of the US Army where he served 2 tours in Iraq with the Striker Brigade Unit and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Bar second award, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Other survivors include sister, Jessica Elizabeth McMath, fiancée, Jennifer Slater, maternal grandmother, Marie C. Copeland, paternal grandmother, Carolyn H. McMath, all of Thomasville; uncles and aunts, Charlie & Gale Copeland of Thomasville, Carl E, Copeland of Port St. Joe Beach, Fl, Rodney & Tammy Hunter of Thomasville, several cousins and special family friend, Clyde Broadway. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Edwin M. Copeland and paternal grandfather, James David McMath. The family will receive friends 7-9, Thursday at the funeral home.
