Graveside services for Joseph Homer Smallwood, 90, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2008, in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate. Mr. Smallwood died April 10 at Southern Pines. Born January 1, 1918, he was the son of the late Joseph Hunter and Bernice Jones Smallwood. He was married to Josephine Chastain McLeod Smallwood, who preceded him in death. He was retired from the State of Florida. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Hasan Shriner and First Baptist Church. Survivors include sisters, Margaret Willis and Dorothy Baker; half-brother, Bobby Edward Swails; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bellamy.
