Joseph Alfred Murphy, age 70, passed away on April 17, 2026. Born in Thomasville, NC moved to Ormond Beach, Florida as a child. Joe spent his early years immersed in the coastal life he cherished, working as a lifeguard and embracing his love of surfing. He later attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he formed lasting friendships and laid the foundation for his professional career in accounting.

Joe spent the majority of his adult life in Tampa, Florida, where he built a respected career as a Certified Public Accountant. Known for his steady guidance and integrity, he earned the trust of colleagues and clients alike. Outside of his profession, Joe found his greatest joy on the water. Whether boating or fishing, he treasured time spent in Tampa Bay, Daytona and Homosassa Springs, places that brought him peace and happiness. Joe was known for his karaoke singing and his grilling prowess.

Following the loss of their home due to Hurricane Helene, Joe and his partner in life, Suzanne relocated to their second home in Thomasville, Georgia, where they made their home together until his passing.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Murphy, and his grandmother, Maude Bryant. He is survived by his loving mother, Sarah Lou Shoaf Murphy; his brothers, Tom, Brian, and David; and his sisters, Susan and Missy. Joe will be remembered for his deep love of family, his enduring connection to the water, and the quiet strength and kindness that defined his life. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
