Joseph Powell Dollar

Graveside funeral services for Joseph Powell Dollar, 61, of Ochlocknee will be held Wednesday at 10:00AM at Barwick Rosewood Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Mathews will officiate. Mr. Dollar died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dollar was a carpenter and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and family gatherings. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Born June 14, 1946 in Thomasville he was the son of the late Jessie Warner Dollar, Sr. and Mae Toole Dollar. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Kimberly Brown of Albany; grandchildren, Kayla & Brandon Maier and Brady and Gracie Graham; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara & Harold Hurst of Kingston, GA; brothers, John Ellis Dollar of Thomasville; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James F. Dollar and Lora of Newport News, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley B. Dollar and Beverly of Thomasville; and a sister-in-law, Melba Dollar of Thomasville; nieces, Beth Head of Kingston; Lynn Dollar of Thomasville; Kay Edelen of Thomasville; Sandy Griffin of Whigham; Jessica Anderson of Thomasville; Stephanie Layton of Waynesboro; Katie Morello of Newport News, VA; and nephew, Terry White of Thomasville; Several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse W. Dollar, Jr and nephews David Allen Hurst and Dr. Matthew Dollar. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8PM Tuesday.
