Joseph W. Moody, Jr.
Services for Joseph W. Moody, Jr., 93, of Boston, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Boston Baptist Church. The Rev. Tim Phillips will officiate and interment is in Boston City Cemetery. Mr. Moody died Jan. 16, 2008 at his residence. Born April 19, 1914, in Boston, he was the son of Joseph W. and Elizabeth Groover Moody. He was married to Lucy Moody, who preceded him in death on December 20, 1991. He is survived by his present wife, Jo Graham Moody. He was retired from the United States Army, having served his country in World War II. During his service during the war, Mr. Moody received four bronze service stars and other decorations for action in Southern France, the Rome-Arno and Rhineland campaigns, and the European African Middle East Theatre. Mr. Moody was finally honorably discharged in 1974 as Lt. Colonel. He was a member of Boston Baptist Church. Survivors include stepdaughter and husband, Debbie and J.D. McBride of Thomasville; stepson-in-law and wife, Bill and Elizabeth Linton of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Jay and Lisa Lowe, Jodi Cloer and Phillip Linton; great-grandchildren, Morgan Lowe, Jace Lowe, Holland Cloer and Andrew Cloer; sister, Virginia Ford of Lake Village, Ark.; nephews, Joe Ford of Austin, Texas and Lester Ford of Naples, Fla.; great-nieces, Laurie Bridewell of Lake Village, Ark., Elizabeth Smith of Memphis, Tenn., Lindsay Franklin of Austin, Texas, Virginia Nalle of Atlanta and Von Katherine Knable of Oldsmar, Fla.; great-nephews, Lester Ford, Jr. of Spring Lake, Mich. and Edward Alexander of Tupelo, Miss.
