Joy Vincent Dodge

Joy Vincent Dodge was born February 20, 1927 in Gainestown, AL, and died on November 22, 2014 in Thomasville, GA. Her father was Don Juble Vincent who born in Seminary, MS on August 18, 1900 and died on December 29, 1992, in Lucedale, MS; her mother was Willie Mae Pope Vincent who was born December 1, 1902 in Vosburg, MS, and died in Mobile, AL, on March 3, 1973. Mrs. Dodge grew up in Agricola, George County, MS, where she graduated high school. She was a graduate of Perkinston Community College where she was the president of Phi Theta Kappa. She attained Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Southern MS, Gulf Coast, and the master of Business Administration degree, also from U.S.M. She worked at the Veterans Administration Center in Biloxi for 36 years and retired from Ward Administration Section there.She was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS, where she was a member of the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class, the senior Adult Fellowship and the Singspiration Choir. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of Handsboro Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents Don J. and Willie Mae Pope Vincent; husband Paul S. Dodge Jr.; son Paul S. Dodge, III, and her sister Johnie Ruth Versluys. She is survived by her grandsons David G. Dodge of Peachtree City, GA, Christopher A. Dodge, of Thomasville, GA; great-grandson Dylan Cole Dodge of Peachtree City, GA; brothers Donald J. Vincent of Hoover, AL, and Glenn Wood Vincent of Agricola, MS.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Agricola Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery next to her husband on Friday December 12, 2014 at 2:30PM.
