Joyce Elizabeth Daniel Smith

Graveside services for Joyce Elizabeth Daniel Smith, 84, of Thomasville will be held at 3PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Arkansas Street. Rev. Dr. Timothy Filston will officiate. Mrs. Smith passed away on March 15, 2016 at Southern Pines. Born December 11, 1931 in Batavia, New York, she was the daughter of the late David William Daniel and Ruth Caulkins Daniel. She was married to Robert Pierce Smith for 61 years, who followed her in death on March 16, 2016. Mrs. Smith attended Mt. Union College in Ohio and Syracuse University and she kept in close contact with her childhood friends over the years. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and the church circle was very important to her. She also enjoyed traveling. She was a teacher’s Assistant at Balfour Elementary. Survivors include son Dan Smith of St. Louis, Missouri; son Dave Smith and wife Leyla and granddaughter Anise Smith of Sarasota, Florida.
