Memorial services for Juanita Minchew Faulk Robinson will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 5, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville where she was a member. Mrs. Robinson died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, after a brief illness. Born May 9, 1927, in Waycross, Georgia, she was the daughter of Dr. Benjamin Harvey Minchew and Juanita Bennett Minchew. A graduate of Waycross High School, she earned her bachelor?s degree in comparative religion in 1948 from Sweetbriar College, where she received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award given by the New York-Southern Society. She did graduate work at the Union Theological Seminary of Columbia University in New York. On December 22, 1948, she married Ralph Ivey Faulk of Thomasville, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1991. A homemaker for most of her life, she raised five children and was an active community volunteer, sharing her time and talents on behalf of the Thomasville Junior Service League, Thomas County League of Women Voters, Daughters of the American Revolution, Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce, Thomas County Historical Society and Court Appointed Special Advocates CASA for Children, among others. Active in the First Presbyterian Church, she was a noted Bible teacher and served the Women of the Church in many capacities, including President. In her later life, she continued her education at Valdosta State College, earning a second bachelor?s degree, in early childhood education, in 1980, and she taught 13 years in the Thomas County public schools. On April 3, 1993, she married Arthur R. Robinson, who survives. Other local survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Sissy Faulk of Thomasville; daughters and sons-in-law Ellen and George Herring, Boston; Charity and Ken Manwaring, Thomasville; and Elizabeth Boo and Rick Ivey, Thomasville; grandchildren, Hamilton Faulk, Ivey Manwaring, Sarah Manwaring, Mitchell Herring, Sterling Ivey, Brantley Ivey and Ford Faulk; and a great-granddaughter, Mallie Faulk, all of whom reside in Thomas County. A daughter, Mary Ivey Faulk of Thomasville, preceded her in death on December 1, 1995. Mrs. Robinson is also survived by her brother, Dr. Harvey Minchew of Winchester, Maryland, her sister, Doris Tennant, of Jacksonville, Florida, and a large extended family. No formal visitation is planned, but the family is receiving visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Faulk at 1203 E. Washington Street.
