Judith Ann Potter

May 3, 1941 — April 8, 2012

Judith Ann Potter, 70, after a long illness and pancreatic cancer, peacefully left this world to join in the divine, inseparable "...love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:18-39 on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Plantation Manor, Thomasville, GA. She was blessed with kind, gentle, caretakers including the attention of family, friends, staff, clergy and the grace of Thomasville's All Saints Episcopal Church, members of Hospice of Southwest Georgia & Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Judy was born May 3, 1941 in Boston, MA., the first daughter of the late Richard A. Cobb & Madlene D. Cobb. Her sister, Justine Cobb Winters, also predeceased her. She attended primary school in MA, secondary school in NJ. Choosing teaching as her vocation, she gained summa cum laude at Springfield University MA and got her masters degree at Syracuse University. She enjoyed her career immensely and taught in Portland, ME, Port Chester, NY, and in the E. Syracuse-Minoa School District NY with an added honor of a U. S. Department of State appointment at the American International School in Rangoon, Burma now Myanmar . She avidly loved reading, sports, walking, bird watching, travel, art, music, helping her students care, have fun & reason, her contact with parents, working with all of her colleagues, making & keeping lifelong friends, and her church. She & her husband, Peter, had lived in Fayetteville, NY for 27 years. Judy is survived by : her husband, Peter E. Potter, her children, son, John "Skip" & daughter-in-law Robin Hyde Darien, CTand daughter, Stacey L, Hyde Hornell, NY, step-daughters, Karen L. Stauffer & son-in-law, Jon T. Stauffer -- Thomasville, GA, and Ashley Ito Evergreen, CO & stepson, Stephen C. Potter Alexandria, VA. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren : J. Grant, Ellen, Leigh & Anna Stauffer Thomasville and Kristin & Megan Ito Evergreen, CO, brother-in-law, Charles A. Winters W. Hurley, NY, nieces, Amy W. Champoux Whately, MA & Rebecca W. Keegan L.A., CA and former husband John Hyde II. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HOSPICE OF SOUTHWEST GEORGIA, 818 GORDON AVE., THOMASVILLE, GA 31792.
