Judith Vivien Glass

October 4, 1939 — June 21, 2024

Our Mother, Judith Vivien Glass (84) went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2024. Vivien was born to the late Curtis and Dorothy Williams on Oct. 4, 1939, in Donalsonville, GA. Vivien graduated from Seminole County High School in Donaldsonville in 1957.
Vivien was a model Wife/Mother/Mother-in-law/Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Vivien married the love of her life, Ray Glass in Donalsonville, GA on February 1, 1958, and shared 66 years of marriage. Shortly after their marriage, Vivien and Ray moved to Thomasville, GA and started a wholesale battery business, Ray Glass Batteries Inc, where Vivien served as secretary/treasurer. While helping with the battery business, the family grew, and soon Vivien became a young mother of 3 boys, Bobby, Robby and Kevin. While helping with the business, she was a stay-at-home Mom in her sons’ early years. She was determined to provide a wonderful upbringing for her sons; From being their Cub Scout leader to taking advantage of everything the YMCA had to offer. She even got piano lessons for her sons. Unfortunately, none would get interested in piano. Vivien and the family especially enjoyed activities including water skiing and snow skiing. They enjoyed RV camping, boating, had horses and competed in barrel racing events.
When all her sons went into elementary school, Vivien and Ray started Glass Western Wear, a retail store for western clothes and horse tackle. Vivien ran the store from the middle 60’s through the late 70’s. Her sons, Bobby, Robby and Kevin got involved in the battery business right out of high school and it grew to the point where Vivien and Ray decided to close the western store, and just concentrate on the Battery Business. With the help of the 3 sons, the wholesale Battery Business really grew. Along the way, Battery Source Retail division was added, and the name was registered in 1992. The Glass Family started building Battery Source Stores throughout the southeast. The grandkids then got involved with the business which has evolved into 25 locations serving Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. Vivien was very proud of her sons and grandkids’ involvement with the family business and its success.
In her retirement years, Vivien and Ray traveled all over the United States in their RV, including trips to Alaska and deep into Mexico. They also loved traveling abroad with friends and family including trips to China, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, Monte Carlo, and other places. They also enjoyed riding their 3-wheel motorcycle on trips with friends.
She is survived by her husband Ray Glass. Sons Bobby Glass (Christy), Robby Glass (Tina), and Kevin Glass (Darla) all of Thomasville. Grandchildren Ross Glass (Britney), Karl Glass (Mallory), Tyler Glass (Sarah), Heather Glass Smith (Stephen) , Nick Glass (Taylor) , Peyton Glass (Taylor), Melinda Glass Barwick (Michael) and Allen Glass (Kaleigh). Vivien was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. A special thank you goes out to her caregivers. They really cared for Vivien and enjoyed listening to her stories about her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister LaNae Lapoint, and husband Don. Her sister Erica Smith. Also, preceded in death was her beautiful great-granddaughter Emerson Rae Glass.
