Nan Arwood Morris Baker passed peacefully at home on November 16. Born Julia Nan Arwood on March 5, 1934, in Moultrie to Julia Thelma Rice Arwood and William Cecil Arwood, she graduated from Moultrie High School in 1951 and Agnes Scott College with a BA in Psychology in 1955. She is survived by her brother Charles Franklin Arwood (Tillie) of Atlanta, and sister-in-law, Priscilla Hinson Arwood of Thomasville. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Patrick Morris, and two infant sons William and Stephen; her second husband William Hunter Baker; and her brother William Cecil Arwood Jr. MD. She lived in Gainesville, Florida where she worked at Santa Fe Community College in accounting and lived in Savannah after her marriage to Bill Baker. She later moved to Thomasville where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomasville, was active in Women's Circle, and volunteered at Hands and Hearts for Horses. In addition to her brother and sisters-in-law, she is survived by nieces and nephews Julia Arwood Singletary (Rick) and William Cecil Arwood III (Michele) of Thomasville; Evelyn Arwood Jones (Bill) of Atlanta; Charles Franklin Arwood Jr. (Cyndi) of Thomasville and Matilda (Tutu) Arwood Wise (Steve) of Atlanta. Great nieces and nephews include Lewis Singletary (Jenny), Margaret Hardy (David), Hinson Arwood (Lauren), Aleks Arwood, Maggie Jones, Katherine Arwood, Rebekah Hemphill (Brent), Emily Arwood, Samantha (Tyler) Banister, Jack (Ashley) Wise, Andrew Wise, and Caroline Wise. Great-great nephews and nieces include Will Hardy, Noah Crenshaw, Eliza Hardy, Poppy Singletary, and Cecil Arwood. A service is planned for Monday, November 21 at 11:00 AM in the chapel at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carrie Myers officiating and burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thomasville First United Methodist Church, 425 N. Broad Street, Thomasville, Georgia 31792, and Hands and Hearts for Horses, 3824 Lower Cairo Road, Thomasville, Georgia 31792.
