Julia ("Julie") Carico, 57, of Thomasville, Ga passed away on November 21, 2022 in the comfort of her home following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at All Saints Episcopal Church. Born on June 26, 1965 in Columbus, OH, she was the daughter of Robert Sheets Bussom and Jane Doty Bussom, who survive. Julie received her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where she met her loving husband John, who was a medical student at the time. She gave up her career to raise her two sons, both of whom are now in medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. An active member of All Saints Episcopal Church, she was a former Sr. Warden of the Vestry and a former Chairwoman of the Altar Guild. Julie also enjoyed playing Bridge, running, hiking, and traveling. She is a former 1st place women's finisher in the Rose City Run, and ran multiple marathons, including Chicago, New York, and Boston. Survivors include her husband, Dr. John Carico of Thomasville; sons Alex and Will Carico, both of Augusta, GA; parents Robert and Jane Bussom of Thomasville; sister Lynn Barbre (Larry) of Snellville, GA; parents-in-law Jim and Helen Carico of Thomasville, GA; brothers-in-law David Carico (Tina) of Sandy Springs, GA, and Richard Carico (Allison) of Atlanta, GA; and nephews Ryan Barbre of Covington, GA, Austin Barbre of Snellville, GA, Christopher Carico of Athens, GA, Barrett Carico of Atlanta, GA, and Mason Carico of Sandy Springs, GA. In lieu of flowers her family request donations be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church at 443 S Hansell Street, Thomasville, GA, or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at givenow.lls.org.
