Julia A. Palmer

Graveside services for Julia A. (Judy) Palmer will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday October 22, 2020 at Laurel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Whit Byram officiating. Mrs. Palmer passed away on Sunday October 18, 2020 at Woodleaf Senior Care. Born on April 4, 1939 in Athens, Ga. she was the daughter of the late Thomas Appleton and Jewell Burkhalter Appleton. Mrs. Palmer was a graduate of Athens High School and then graduated from the University of Georgia School of Journalism where she graduated Magna Cum-Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kapa Sorority. She was a long-time resident of Thomasville where she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Palmer was married to Dr. James W. Palmer Jr. who preceded her in death on July 14, 2015. Survivors include her sons James W. (Jim) Palmer III of Brooklyn, NY, and William Scott (Bill) Palmer and his wife Nadia of Thomasville.
