Karin Muserallo

May 2, 1953 — March 15, 2023

Karin Anne Lee Muserallo, beloved wife, mother, and "Noni" to her grandchildren, passed away suddenly and peacefully at the home she raised her children in on March 15, 2023.

Karin was born May 2, 1953, in Norwich, New York, to David Edward Lee and Charlotte Wnuk Lee. Her father was a proud Irishman and it was from him she developed a love of navy blue and green, and all things Celtic. She attended Catholic schools, and later Norwich High School where she met her husband, James Joseph Muserallo (Jim). The two eloped to Little Lake, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula when Jim was stationed at the now-decommissioned K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base.

Karin's first job after marriage was a case worker at the housing authority in Alexandria, Virginia, while Jim was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. It was there, in 1976, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter. They would have a second daughter before moving back to their hometown. Karin, born on the day of the 79th running of the Kentucky Derby, found herself a job as a supervisor at Off Track Betting in Norwich where fans like her mom could "bet on the ponies." She left the job to raise her children after their first son was born in 1980. The would welcome another in 1984.

Karin continued to raise the kids at home when the family moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, when Jim worked at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Their final move was to Thomasville, Georgia, where the family set up roots for good.

Karin went right into teaching in Georgia. Ever the overachiever, she received her Masters in Education at Valdosta State University while raising four children. She often took the children to sit outside the classroom while she was a student and they were proud of her when she graduated. She took a challenging role in education, working with students in Thomas County Board of Education's Pathways Educational Program. The job required tough skin and a tender heart, but Karin wouldn't have had it any other way. She retired after more than 20 years at the school.

Karin's free time was spent taking the kids on family trips to Sea World and Busch Gardens, and leading the CCD program on Sundays at St. Augustine's Catholic Church where the family made lifelong friends.

Karin's finest days were when she became Noni. She spoiled her seven grandchildren with baking lessons on holidays, packages in the mail, and hugs and kisses during visits.

Karin is preceded in death by her parents, David E., and Charlotte Lee. She is survived by James Joseph Muserallo, her husband of 47 years, daughters Carie Muserallo Young (Doug) and Dava Lee Muserallo, sons Sean Michael Muserallo and Kiel James Muserallo (Jennifer), and her beloved grandchildren, Ellia, Beatty, Dara, Annelee, Callum, Kieran, and Clara.

The family will receive visitors between 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 19 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home, 110 Hansell Street, Thomasville, Georgia 31792. A Rosary and Bible service will follow between 3:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., in the adjoining chapel.
