Services for Katherine Stokes Burt Bulloch Prevatte, 91 of Thomasville are 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2011 at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mike Huling, Rev. Bob Dixon and Rev. Burns Willis will officiate and interment will be in Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Mrs. Prevatte passed away May 18, 2011 at The Suites of Woodleaf. Born October 12, 1919 in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late William C. Burt and Lallie Carter Burt. She was married to J. Douglas Bulloch, Sr. who passed away in 1975 and Wilson Y. Prevatte who passed away in 1992. Katherine moved to Camilla with her family at age 5 where she later graduated from Camilla High School. She then attended Huntingdon College in Alabama followed by Georgia State College for Women. She later furthered her studies at Valdosta State College. She began her teaching career in Cotton, Ga when she was 19. After marrying Doug Bulloch in 1942 she put her teaching career on hold until their children were older, and in 1957 she resumed teaching in the Thomas County School System, teaching 3rd grade, then later history at Central High School. During her career, she was named a STAR teacher and also sponsored a scholarship for a history student for many years at Central. She retired in May, 1981 with 26 years experience, but continued teaching as a volunteer tutor at Bishop Hall Charter School and Jerger Elementary School. Mrs. Prevatte was a life-long church member, teaching Sunday school and providing leadership for United Methodist Women's groups. She continued to teach Sunday school at her home, the Suites of Woodleaf until recently. Among her many volunteer activities; she served more than 2, 500 hours at the Archbold Hospital Auxiliary over the span of 20 years and was active with the Red Cross, Lawson Neel Med Bank, and Meigs-Ochlocknee Luncheon Club. She served as president of both the Thomasville Pilot Club and the Thomasville Women's Club. She loved to travel after her retirement, enjoying trips to Canada, England, Germany, France, Amsterdam, and the Holy Lands. She also served on a mission trip to Russia and the Ukraine. Survivors include children, Patsy Aultman and husband Robert of Moultrie, Dotty Thompson of Thomasville, John Bulloch and wife Miriam of Ochlocknee, Kathy Crowdis and husband Richard of Albany; grandchildren, Melody T. Edelen of Thomasville, Mike Thompson and wife Kate of Seffner, Fl, Renny Thompson and wife Tammy of Pavo, Dee B. Gaines and husband Reid of Thomasville, Joni B. Haid and husband John of Lynn Haven, Fl, Ashley Bulloch of Valdosta, Bert Aultman of Washington, DC, Katy Aultman of Atlanta, Doug Crowdis of Albany; great grandchildren, Holly Edelen of Thomasville, Weschler Edelen of Thomasville, Mike Thompson, Jr., of Seffner, Fl, Doug Thompson of Seffner, Fl, Madyson Thompson of Pavo, Melinda Thompson of Pavo, Marx Gaines of Thomasville, Graham Gaines of Thomasville, Sara Kathryn Haid of Lynn Haven , Fl; great great grandchildren, Brody Blalock of Thomasville and Daniel Thompson of Seffner, Fl; sister, Lallie C. Burt of Stone Mountain, Ga; sisters-in-law, Frances M. Burt of Atlanta, Betty B. Shaw of Vidalia, Ga, Jerry B Thompson and husband Wayland of Ochlocknee, Louise P Ashton of Albany; special family Michelle Watt of Thomasville and the wonderful residents and staff of Suites of Woodleaf. She was preceded in death by brothers, William T. Burt, Jr., Calvin Burt; sisters, Mildred Gandy and Sara Dukes. The family will receive friends 4-7 pm, Friday, May 20, 2011 at the funeral home.
