Graveside services for Katherine J. Turner, 88, of Jacksonville, FL will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 26 on 16th St. in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, GA. Rev. Billy Majors will officiate. Mrs. Turner died on April 23, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL. Born October 7, 1922 in Thomas Co, she was the daughter of the late Hilton C. and Pauline Wilder Johnson. She attended grammar school and high school in Ochlocknee, GA and was a 1939 graduate of Ochlocknee Consolidated High School. She was also a graduate of Business School in Thomasville, GA. Sixty nine years ago, on February 18, 1942 in Meigs, GA, she married Burnice Lindsey Turner, who survives. For many years, she was an active and serving member of Mayfair Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mrs. Turner was employed for years as an operations clerk by the Jacksonville Electric Authority, retiring in 1987. Survivors include her husband, Burnice L. Turner of Jacksonville, Fl, son Burnice L. Turner, II and his wife Jennifer of British Columbia, Canada and a son James H. Turner of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A close family she loved very much and who loved her deeply. Mrs. Turner will be greatly missed by many. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home in Thomasville, GA.
