Kathryn Ann Wester

October 13, 1929 — August 5, 2024

A celebration of the life and home going of Kathryn Ann Williams Wester will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Allen and Allen Funeral Home. Kathryn's nephew, Rev. Andy Piland of Monroe, GA will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens on the Boston RD. Longtime family friend Bill Piland will officiate the committal service. Active Pallbearers will be Wandell Hobbs, Keefe Newton, Grant Newton, Spencer Sherrod, Phil Slaughter, Allen Corbin, and Herman Daniels. Kathryn went home to be with her Lord on August 5, 2024. She was born on October 13, 1929 in the Spence Community "within a stones throw" of Macedonia Church in Grady County, GA. She was the youngest of five children born to Claude C. Williams and Katie Lou Hammett Williams. She held the distinction of being the oldest living member of her family. Kathryn graduated from Thomasville High School and married Henry Wester on December 26, 1949. They were married for 53 1/2 years, until Henry predeceased her on July 20, 2003. She retired from the now closed Southwestern State Hospital as a Dental Assistant after 34 years of service. She enjoyed needle pointing and painting ceramics and all kinds of crafts. Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Debbie Wester Maddox of Pavo, GA, her granddaughter and grandson-in- law, Laura (Clements) and Keefe Newton and the shining lights of her life, her great grandchildren, Lauren Newton and Grant Newton all of Statesboro, GA. Other survivors include nieces Sherry Powell and Jan Powell of Tallahassee, FL; nephews Rev. Andy Piland (Beth) of Monroe GA, Michael Tatum of Lawrenceville, GA and Sunny Atwood of Tallahassee FL; great nieces Sharon Powell Slaughter (Phil) of Thomasville, Ashley Piland Backstrom of Guntersville, AL and Catherine Piland Rogers of Monroe, GA; Kathryn was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and sisters, Mrs. Robbie Tatum and Mrs. Ocie Piland of Waycross, GA, and Mrs. Mattie Powell of Tallahassee, FL, and a nephew, Leon P (Butch) Powell of Tallahassee, FL. An infant brother Clarence Williams predeceased her in 1928. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the Funeral Home Chapel.
