Kenley (Buster) Lanter, Jr.

Kenley “Buster” Lanter Jr. 74, of Thomasville passed away on September 7, 2024. He was born on September 25, 1949 in Thomasville to the late Kenley Lanter Sr. and Jessie Lanter who still lives.
In his earlier years, Buster played little league baseball (American Legion Baseball) where his dad coached and played for the Thomasville High School Baseball team. He attended Birdwood Junior College now known as Thomas University, Valdosta State University, and Georgia Southern University. He attended First Presbyterian Church as a child and attended Dawson Street Baptist Church. Buster was in business with his father since high school. After his father passed, he ran Lanter Communications until his retirement.
Buster liked watching baseball and football, his teams were the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. His hobbies included deep sea fishing, coin collecting, landscaping, and yard work. He always kept up with his yard. He loved hunting with his dad and enjoyed cookouts/gatherings with his family. He was a member of the exchange club for 26 years. He loved animals, especially his dogs Jake, Max, and Lucy. He loved sporty cars from a Z28 to a Corvette which he never drove a mile over the speed limit. He was very patriotic and proud of his father’s service in the Navy. Also, a special thanks to his lifelong friend Wayne Bullock for all his help.
Survivors include his brother Joe Lanter of Nashville, TN, sisters Debra (Dannie) Rogers of Thomasville and Linda (Joe) Tarver of Thomasville; mother Jessie Lanter of Thomasville, step-mother Carmen Lanter of Thomasville; nieces and nephews Matt (Angela) Lanter of Nashville, TN, Kara (Andrew) Day of Tampa, FL, Calla Chastain of Play del Ray, CA, and Kenley Chastain of Thomasville who was also his special caregiver; great-nephews Hudson & Brody Day of Tampa, FL and great-niece Mackenlee Lanter of Nashville, TN.
He is preceded in death by his father Kenley M. Lanter Sr.
Services for Buster Lanter will be held on Thursday, September 12th at 2 pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11th from 5-7 pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
