Funeral Service for Kloteel Lee will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Pastors Andy Daughtry and Brad Bowen officiating. Kloteel Bowen Lee, age 96, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away at her home May 23, 2023. She was born in Cairo, Georgia, April 23, 1927, to the late Jesse and Mattie Layton Bowen. She married St. Elmo Lee July 6, 1947. Kloteel earned her associate degree from Georgia Southwestern College in 1947. She then earned her bachelor’s degree in education in 1968 and her master’s degree in education in 1982 from Valdosta State College. Kloteel taught kindergarten at First Baptist Church of Thomasville and was a teacher in the Thomas County School System. She taught English at Central until 1970, and then she went to Magnolia School and became the head of the Title 1 program. Later, she organized and directed the In-School Suspension Program in the Thomas County School System before retiring with over 30 years of service in education. Kloteel was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville where she was a devoted Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma professional society for outstanding women educators. In addition, she was honored with membership in Gamma Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at the University of Georgia. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and working in her yard. Survivors include her daughters Janet Carter of Bogart, Georgia; Jean Quigg (Kenneth) of Woodstock, Georgia; and Joy West (Reid) of Thomasville, Georgia; grandchildren T.C. Carter (Michelle), Kendall Murchland (Ryan), Courtney Quigg (fiancé Brady Bennett), Ryan West, and Rylee West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, St. Elmo Lee, and brother, Charles Bowen.
