Services for Lacy Franklin Lace Gay are at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Dawson Street Baptist Church of Thomasville where he was an active member. The Rev. Lee Waller and the Rev. Joe Bryant, and Rev. Randall Gay will officiate, and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Members of the Dawson Street Baptist Church Men?s Adult Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Gay died March 4, 2005 in Thomasville. Born December 8, 1944, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Lacy Clayton Gay and Effie Elizabeth Gay. Mr. Gay was married to the former Lynda Jean Brown of Verona, North Carolina, who survives. First and foremost, he was a devoted husband and father. In 1967 he began his career in the insurance business with Independent Life Insurance Company. During the merger of Independent Insurance Company and American General Insurance Group, he served as POS trainer for the overall merge of the two companies. He retired in 1999 as a manager with American General Insurance Group. After 33 years with Independent Life and American General Insurance Group, he joined Powell Associates as underwriter and training counselor for the home office in Thomasville. He was a member of the National Life Underwriters Training Council, and was a member of and served in many leadership positions with the local Life Underwriters Association. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters Stephanie Faith Gay of Thomasville and Andrea Lee Watkins of Knoxville, Tennessee; son in law Gregory Watkins and granddaughter Laura O?Neal Watkins, Knoxville, Tennessee; sister, Vonzeil Bryant, Lynn Haven, Florida; brother Marion Gay, Thomasville, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. His brother Melton Gay of Ashland Kentucky preceded him in death. Memorials may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind, 100 Peachtree Street, Suite 620, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.
