Lanell Fudge Higgs, 92, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at
Langdale Hospice House of Valdosta with both of her sons by her side.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Laurel Hill
Cemetery in Thomasville, Georgia, with Bro. Lee Waller officiating. The family will receive
friends on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Allen and Allen Funeral Home in Thomasville from 6
p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Born in Waurika, Oklahoma on August 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Nora
Rice. She was married to Joseph D. Fudge for 33 years and later to Carroll E. Higgs, Sr., both of
whom preceded her in death.
She was raised in Waurika, Oklahoma and moved to Pelham and then later to Thomasville,
Georgia after meeting her husband, Joseph Fudge, in Texas while he was serving in the United
States Air Force. She was always very proud of both of her sons, and her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed playing cards, putting together
puzzles with friends, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Lanell was a long-time, active member of
Dawson Street Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia.
Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Ron (Virginia) Fudge of Canton, Georgia and Larry
(Stephanie) Fudge of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Dustin (Jenny) Fudge of Marietta,
Georgia, Meredith (John) Todd of Buford, Georgia, Kristen Suarez of Valdosta, Georgia, and
Tanner (Liz) Fudge of Savannah, Georgia; step-grandchildren, Parker, Shay, and Lexie; greatgrandchildren,
Lael, June, Noah, Elliette, Kinleigh, Jase, Riley, and Colson; and step-greatgrandchildren,
Abigail, Branten, and Cliff; sister, Glenda Heath of Comanche, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Nan Rice of Wichita Falls, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald, James, and Robert Rice and sister-in-law
Bonnie Rice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Langdale Place or
Langdale Hospice House.
