Larry Fondren Singletary, 68 of Thomasville passed away on July 22, 2024. He was born on December 1, 1955, in Cairo to the late Fondren Lamar Singletary Jr. and Geraldine Louise Maxwell Singletary.
In his earlier years, Larry graduated from Cairo High School in 1973. He married the love of his life, Danette VanBrunt Singletary in 1974 in Cairo and shared 50 years of marriage. Larry graduated from the FBI National Police Academy in 1985 and attended the US Secret Service Executive Protective Training Program. Larry served in law enforcement for 30 years with the Thomasville Police Department as Major and Lanier County Sheriff’s Office as Chief Deputy. He was also an entrepreneur who invented and patented numerous products he manufactured for the firearms industry including Aimtech Mount Systems and Patriot Manufacturing.
Larry was a Renaissance man of creativity whose true passion was handcrafting bespoke treasures for his loved ones. He was a brilliant life-long learner who took delight in gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Danette Singletary, daughters Jeri Singletary Byrnes (Matthew) of Holly Springs and Jessi Singletary Rush (Daniel) of Thomasville, grandchildren Judah, Titus, and Evan Maxwell Byrnes, brother Gary Lamar Singletary of Prattville, AL, and mother-in-law Vonda VanBrunt of Cairo.
The family will be having a private Celebration of Life.
