Lawrence Edward Kokesh

Larry was born to Helen Villyard Kokesh and Edward Kokesh on December 22, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the third generation to operate Kokesh Plumbing, founded by his grandfather Jerry in 1895. Kokesh Plumbing is the second oldest continually operating business in West St. Louis County and the business is now operated by his youngest son Joe Kokesh. Larry served on the Board of Merrimac Valley Bank and was President of the West County Fire Protection District.
Larry served in the Army in Germany in the mid-1950s. Later, he and his wife Jeanne enjoyed traveling in Europe for years and they visited many friends he made biking there.
Larry was an avid biker, racing in Europe and riding 150 miles a week. He started the tradition on his birthday bicycling his age in miles into his 80’s. He enjoying riding with many friends both in Thomasville and Tallahassee. Larry was loved and respected by all who met him.
Larry passed August 12, 2021 at Legacy Village in Thomasville after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Kokesh of Thomasville, three children from a previous marriage: Larry (JR) (Lark) Kokesh, Elizabeth Kokesh, and Joseph (Megan) Kokesh. Surviving sisters are Alice Kretchel, Carol Meyers, and brother Jerry (Karen) Kokesh, all of the St. Louis area. Joe and Megan have two children Jackson (5) and Charlotte (11 months).
