Lee Hall Smith

February 17, 1938 — August 28, 2008

Lee Hall Smith, beloved husband and father, passed away August 28, 2008, from the arms of his loving family to the arms of his loving Lord. His memorial service will be held 10:00 am Monday, September 1 at Dawes Presbyterian Church in Ochlocknee, Georgia.

Born February 17, 1938, Lee grew up in Ochlocknee and started dating Cynthia Cooper in 1956. After marrying in 1961, the two went on to have 47 wonderful years together, full of laughter, love, and dancing. Lee's passions were simple: he put his God and his family—his wife and his girls—above everything else. He taught his family the simple rules of life: to love unconditionally; to find the humor in situations whenever possible; and to enjoy the small pleasures of life, whether the joy of a good book, the smell of a freshly mowed lawn, or the perfection of a crisply ironed shirt. Most importantly, he lived by example, and his sweet spirit inspired those who knew him best to follow his lead.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his two daughters: Melissa Smith Daniell and her husband Scott, son Matthew, and daughter Elizabeth; and Paula Smith Drake and her husband Paul and daughter Cynthia; his sister Paulette Bovingdon and her husband Mike and sons Shannon, Darren, and Michael. He is also survived by his brother Ray Smith, his wife Emily and son Paul. He was preceded in death by his mother, Floy Bradley Turq; his stepfather, Robert J. Turq; and his brother Jimmy Smith.

He will be missed as he was loved … greatly.
