Lendon Charles Davis

December 22, 1948 — September 1, 2019

After a lengthy illness, Mr. Lendon Charles Davis, 70, peacefully passed away at his home in Coolidge on Sunday, September 1, 2019 surrounded by family. A service will be held on Wednesday, September 4th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at The Gathering Church on 12748 US-19, Thomasville, GA 31757. Rev. Randy Fields will officiate. Born in Leicester, England, Len came to the United States when he was only seventeen. Len was the son of the late James Earl Davis and Jean Wells Davis Teagle. He was the much loved husband of Charlesy Carlton Davis who survives him. He is survived by his children, Michael Davis, wife Rebecca and grandson Nathan of Coolidge, Georgia; and Luke Davis, wife Mary and grandson Jaxon of Tallahassee, Florida. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Davis and wife Ocie of Charleston, South Carolina and sister, Gaile Barrs of Leicester, England, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daniel and Becky Carlton, their sons Matthew and Thomas ; and by his brother-in-law, David Carlton and his children, Kayla and Jacob.

Len was a faithful father and husband who loved his family both in the United States and in England. He was a family man who always brought a smile to those who loved him most. He made any family gathering a memorable event with his good sportsmanship, stories and laughter. He was a Christian and his faith showed in the way he lived his life. He was an unselfish man who did not hesitate to help others in any way he could. He was a much-loved friend to others and enjoyed friendly kidding and sharing tall tales as well as joining in on political discussions.

Len served as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his enlistment ended, Len worked in appliance repair in Jacksonville, Florida, and later worked as an air-conditioning repairman for Carlton Refrigeration and Thermal Equipment in Thomasville, Georgia. His remaining work years were spent as Chief Tech of Engineering at Archbold Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 2014.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Gathering Church on Tuesday, September 3rd.
