Lenora Herndon
Graveside services for Lenora Herndon, 93, of Thomasville are 10:00 am, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Pavo Lebanon Cemetery. Rev. Bob Slain will officiate. Ms. Herndon died April 15, 2010 at Camellia Gardens. Pallbearers are Joey Herndon, Tony Wooten, Mills Herndon, Brandt Herndon, David Lee and Tyler Wooten. Born February 3, 1917, in Pavo, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Herndon. She attended Pavo school and graduated in 1934 as valedictorian of her class, attended Joys Business School in Thomasville and became a bookkeeper at Moon's Jewelry in 1942, just after WWII began. She continued as bookkeeper for Kress Jewelers,' working in the same store location for 60 years until her retirement at the age of 85. She was a member of Pavo United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer for 40 years. She was also youth counselor for many years. The youth were dear to her and kept her feeling young. She was a member of the Leola Long Missionary Society. She loved her church and took an active role in all activities. She was a member of Pavo Woman's Club and enjoyed helping in their activities. Survivors include a sister & brother-in-law, Bonnie & Harry Davis of Colquitt, GA; a brother & sister-in-law, Randall & Betty Herndon of Macon; 2 nieces, Cindy & Tony Wooten and children, Toni Lynn and Tyler all of Boston, Holli & David Lee and children, Ella Randall, Herndon and Wyatt of Gainesville, Ga.; 3 nephews, Joey & Frances Herndon, and child Nicholas, Mills and Fran Herndon, and children, Katherine, Randy and Brandt all of Thomasville, Ga. and Brandt & Angel Herndon and child, Ava of McDonough. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Jeanette Herndon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pavo United Methodist Church, c/o Sonya Aldridge, P.O.
