Leo Donald Maxwell

Services for Leo Donald Maxwell, 89, of Thomasville are at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Summerhill Baptist Church where he was a member and a deacon. The Rev. Mitch Clements will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Maxwell died November 10, 2010 at Archbold Hospital. Born September 14, 1921 in Grady County, he was the son of the late Moses Patterson Maxwell and Ludelia Whigham Maxwell. On September 16, 1951, in Grady Co, he married Erma Singletary Maxwell, who survives. Mr. Maxwell was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp where he served in the Pacific Theater with the Sixth Marine Division in Guam, China and Okinawa. Mr. Maxwell was awarded the Purple Heart. He was retired from Georgia Crate & Basket Co., where he was a machinist. After retirement he worked for 22 years as a people greeter at Wal-Mart. He loved his church, spending time with his grandkids, gardening and fishing. Other survivors include daughter, Twila Gibson of Thomasville, sons & daughters-in-law, Daniel & Linda Maxwell of Tallahassee and Rev. Judson & Cheryl Maxwell of Midway, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Angie & Tom Kilbourn of Tallahassee and daughter Alice Maxwell of Camilla; grandchildren, Shirley Dixon, Sonia Johnson, Brian Gibson, Jennifer Maxwell, Micah Maxwell, Caroline Maxwell, Hannah Maxwell, Autumn Maxwell, Michelle Nebel, Jason Maxwell, Amanda Huft, Rebecca Pate, Kaitlin McGahee, Noah McGahee, Carmen McGahee and Joseph McGahee;and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Frances Hancock and Donnie Maxwell and a brother Roscoe D. Maxwell.
