Leo Fort

Funeral services for Leo Williams Fort, 99, of Thomasville, will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Born Sept. 3, 1909 in Thomas Co., Mrs. Fort was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Scrappie Simmons Williams. On November 19, 1929 in Madison, FL, she married the late Lewis Fort. Mrs. Fort was a homemaker and a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she spent many years working in the nursery. She was currently a member of Westside Baptist Church in Thomasville. In daily life Mrs. Fort exemplified Matt. 22:37-39: ??Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind?and love your neighbor as yourself?? Her Christian Character and loving disposition endeared Mrs. Fort to her family and all who knew her. She is survived by 2 daughters and sons in law, Ann & Dr. Russell Lindsay of Birmingham, AL and Janie and Charlie Deal of Thomasville. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a sister Emma Lee Bruce of Tallahassee, FL. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Fort.
