Graveside services for Leo Riley Gainous will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 22, 2004 in Ochlocknee City Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Norman officiating. Mr. Gainous died Saturday November 20, in Ochlocknee. Born on June 7, 1924 in Cairo, Ga. he was the son of the late Ira William Gainous and Julia Griffin Gainous. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during W.W. II where he spent most of his time in Guam. Mr. Gainous worked for many years at Dawes Silica Mining Co. and also worked for the City of Ochlocknee as Public Works Supervisor. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post 265 in Ochlocknee where he served many years as the financial officer, and he served as the Fire Chief of Ochlocknee for many years. He is survived by his sister Lucille Slappy, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend Eva Dekle. He was preceded in death by his brother Delma Gainous, sisters Ollie Cook, Follis Pippin, Irene Rackley, Lenora Hurst, and Thelma Dollar. Memorials may be made to the Ochlocknee Baptist Church building fund or the American Legion Post 265 building fund. The family will recieve friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Guest may sign the online register book at www.allenfh.com .
