Services for Leon Lafayette Hancock, 90 of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Fredonia Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Neely and Chaplin Rick Stewart will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hancock passed away February 14 in Tallahassee. Born February 6, 1923 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late John L. Hancock and Birdie Dixon Hancock. On May 12, 1951 at Dawson Street Baptist Church he married Mattie Pearl Vick Hancock who preceded him in death. He graduated from Thomasville High School where he was an avid 4H'r. Mr. Hancock was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS North Carolina. He was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including deacon, Sunday school teacher; he was very active in Brotherhood and sang in the choir. He is survived by his sister, Wynell "Nell" James of Sylvester and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by sisters, Elmina H. Vickers and Roselyn H. Herring.
