Leonard Rudolph Allen

October 31, 1931 — June 3, 2014

Funeral services for Leonard Rudolph Allen, 82, of Thomasville will be Friday, June 6th, 2014 at 3:00PM in the First Baptist Church sanctuary. His friend and Pastor, The Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, the cemetery he helped to purchase in 1999. Mr. Allen was born October 31, 1931 in Coolidge, Ga. He was the son of the late Sabie Leone Dekle Allen and Leonard Allen. On May 15, 1952 he married Mary Lou Brock Allen, who survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Thomasville High School and also graduated from The Kentucky School of Funeral Service. Rudolph served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. A member of Dawson Street Baptist Church since 1950, he served as a Deacon and spent many years working in the Youth Sunday School Department. He loved his Sunday School Class and never wanted to miss a Sunday. Rudolph began his career in funeral service in 1949 working part time at Dekle Funeral Chapel where he later became a partner. In 1984, he helped to establish Allen & Allen Funeral Services, where he served as President for many years. He was an active member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia, where he served as President. Rudolph was a lifetime member of Lions International and in 1972 he was selected as the Georgia Lion of the Year. He later became a member of Thomasville Golden K Kiwanis where he served in various capacities including President. Rudolph enjoyed traveling, golf and spending time with his family. He was a great son, husband, dad, brother, uncle and PaPa. Survivors include wife of 62 years Mary Lou Brock Allen, son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Leslie Allen, daughter, Diane Palmer all of Thomasville, daughter, Cheryl Logue of Metairie, LA, daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Bernie Boyles of Valdosta, grandchildren, Ashley and Megan Palmer, Amy and Ken Strube, David Logue, April and David Waldron, Jennifer Kaye and Robert Eisen, Kimberly Rollins, Rick Boyles and Matthew Allen, great grandchildren, Kenleigh Rollins, Harris Palmer, Avery Strube and Brock Rollins, brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Ann Allen of Pelham, Max and Susie Allen of Pine Park, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janelle Allen Renfroe. Memorial Donations can be made to Dawson Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 1025 N.
