It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie Leigh Gossett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Leslie passed away on May 28, 2024, in Cochran, Georgia, at the age of 61. She was born on May 27, 1963, to the late Sonnie Sr. and Katherine Wheeler.
Leslie was a talented artist and poet, finding joy in drawing, writing poems, and singing at church. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she cherished spending time with them and indulging in her love of shopping.
Leslie is survived by her daughters Amanda Kelly (Jerry) of Sycamore, AL, and Tonya Heikkila (Jeremiah) of Sumter, SC, as well as her grandchildren Chasity Holland (Brandon), Titus Kelly, McCoyden Raper, Chloe Lyles, Payton Collett, and Mason Collett. She is also survived by her siblings Stacey Carter, Sonnie Carter Jr., and Crystal Vogel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gossett, her biological parents, Sonnie Sr. and Katherine Wheeler, her father William Wheeler, and her son Joshua Lyles.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Leslie's life will be held graveside at 1 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Sunday, June 2, 2024. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Allen & Allen Funeral Home's Celebration of Life Chapel on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
