Services for Lester Gordon Willis of Pavo, GA are at 10:00AM, Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was a member. The Rev. Curtis Eason will officiate, assisted by son, Tommy Willis and other family members. Interment is in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Willis died April 14, 2006 at the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Quitman. Born Oct. 3, 1912 in Tift Co., GA he was the son of the late John Crawford and Beulah Rutland Willis. On May 22, 1937 in Tift County he married Maggie L. Weeks Willis who preceded him in death. Mr. Willis was a retired farmer. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James G. and Janice Willis of Palmetto, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Estelle and Wallace Peek of Pavo, GA, sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny C. and Ginger Willis of Jacksonville, FL, Ed and Elaine Willis of Fitzgerald, GA, Tommy L. and Joann Willis of Lynchburg, VA, daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Jim Dortch of Thomasville, Faye and Gary Dortch of Moultrie; twenty grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Jackie L. Willis, Joe R. Willis, sister, Mildred Kirkland, brothers, Ezell Willis, John S. Willis, Russell Willis, Clyde Willis and Leroy Willis. Memorials may be made to the YMCA, P.O. Box 1037, Thomasville, GA 31799. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
