Services for Lester Ralph Fort, 84, of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner and Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer will officiate. A private interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Fort died February 22, 2004 of heart failure. Born October 13, 1919 in Bearden, Arkansas to the late Charles Young Fort and Lorena Burke Fort, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, five brothers, first wife, Lois C. Fort and son, Gary Ralph Fort.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Fisher Fort, his daughter Bonnie Spann and her husband Charles all of Thomasville, his daughter-in-law Nancy C. Fort of Jacksonville, Florida, and five grandchildren.
A veteran of WWII, he lived in Little Rock, Arkansas from 1947 to 1982 where he was employed as the building engineer first at Pfeifer?s of Arkansas, which later became Dillards Department Store and later at Worthen Bank and Trust Company of Little Rock where he retired at age 62. Upon retirement he moved to Thomasville, Georgia, to be near his daughter and her family enjoying tennis, bridge and his woodworking shop.
