Funeral services for Lila Jean Ferguson Sampson, 85, of Thomasville will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday January 3, 2013 at Victory Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner and Rev. Gary Holland will officiate and internment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Waymon Dekle, Bill Piland, Terry Ferguson, Scott Ferguson, Ryan Jones, and Hal F. Davis. Mrs. Sampson died on December 29, 2012 in Thomasville. Born November 12, 1927 in Meigs, GA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Susie Palmer Ferguson. She worked as a secretary for National Biscuit Co., served as a secretary to several of Thomasville City Managers and also at Oak Grove Nursery and the Antique Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was married to Stamat Sampson for over 64 years, who survives. Also surviving are sons and daughters in law, Stamat C. Corkyand Lea Sampson of Thomasville, Russell L. and Teri Sampson of Thomasville, son Wesley F. Sampson of Thomasville and sons and daughter in law Anthony C. and JoAnne Sampson of Boston. Surviving grandchildren include Danielle Sampson, Matthew Sampson, Mandy and Jason Moye, Kristy J. Sampson, Sommer L. Sampson, Wesley S. Sampson, Jennifer Renee Sampson, Dixie J. and Jeff Prendergast, Kelsey E. Sampson and great grandchild Landon Sampson. Other survivors include a sister Lorene Bennett of Thomasville and brother, Hollis Ferguson of Fayetteville, GA; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Dodson, Dale Bailey, Lynn Brooks, Gene Ferguson, Mary F. West, Elaine Jones, Terry Ferguson, Cindy F. Stansberry, Lee Ferguson, Scott Ferguson and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Louise F. House and Laverne F. Varn and a brother Leroy Ferguson. Memorial contributions may be made to Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary, 425 Covington Ave., Thomasville, GA 31792.
