Services for Lilly M. Cissy Coleman, 94, of Thomasville, Ga. are at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the chapel of Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Hartsfield will officiate and interment is at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Ms. Coleman died July 23, 2011 at Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Ga. Born April 7, 1917 in Thomasville, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Sim and Mae Bell McKinney. She was an accomplished cosmetologist and owned multiple beauty salons in Thomasville and Montgomery, Ala. and she served on the staff of Gov. George Wallace. She was an officer with the Eastern Star organization, was a member of the Professional Businesswomen of Montgomery, Ala. and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Train Association of Alabama. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Beckham Virginia of Boston; daughter-in-law Verna Beckham of Montgomery, Ala.; sister-in-law Mary McKinney of Nashville, Tenn., eight grandchildren, Steve Beckham Janice and Mark Beckham DeeDee of Boston, Chris Beckham Stacey of Tifton, Russ Beckham Dawn of Thomasville, Libby Bickers Bill of Valdosta, Tracy Beckham Dana, Tony Beckham and Jason Beckham Jennifer of Montgomery, Ala., and numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Braxton Beckham, second husband Steve Coleman and one son, William E. Beckham of Montgomery, Ala. The family would also like to thank the staff at Presbyterian Home in Quitman for the excellent care she received. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
