Linda Susan Murphy

Linda “Susan” Murphy, a 66-year-old Thomasville, GA, resident and native of Lakeland, FL, passed away February 10, 2018, at her residence. Born December 14, 1951, in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of Beverly Woods and the late Jimmy Gordon. She was a dedicated feminist and a supportive mother to her two daughters and their countless friends. She was her daughters’ biggest cheerleader, especially during college. Gwen earned a BA in business and Kristy is completing a doctorate in education. She was a talented jewelry-maker who donated all her creations to cancer facilities and hospitals across South Georgia. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Woods, of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Kristy, and son-in-law, Cole Singletary, of Syracuse, NY; daughter, Gwen Isdell, of Sylvester, GA; grandchildren, Megan, Taylor, Will and Ansley; grand dogs, Jacob and Moses Singletary; sisters, Trish Thompson and Katherine Toy, both of Lakeland, FL; brother, Gary Gordon, of TX; nephew, Jared Thompson, of Plant City, FL; and dearest friends, Kathy Page, Mary Strickland, and Casey Nix. The family extends a gracious thank you to two Bethany Hospice nurses, Amy Braswell and Katherine Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Hospice-Moultrie Office, 1321 S Main St., Moultrie, GA 31768, in Susan’s name. A private memorial service will be held during the summer at St. George Island, FL.
