Linda Joyce NeSmith went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early hours of Saturday, January 25, 2025. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished friend to many.
Linda was born on July 29, 1944, to Robert W. Hatcher and Bertha Shirah Hatcher Willis. She married the love of her life, Norman Hardin NeSmith, on December 21, 1962, and they shared a beautiful life together for more than 62 years.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Norman; her daughters, Marnie N. Wilson (Todd) and Melanie N. Davis (Wes); and her grandchildren, Gavin Wilson (Rosalie), Blaine Abbot (Tommy), Jace Wilson, Zachary Hester (Silvana), and Taylor Hester. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Claire Abbot and Evelyn Wilson, as well as her sister, Betty Benton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Janice Connell and Judy Griner.
A dedicated and nurturing mother, Linda was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in middle school. She then began working for Southern Manor Furniture Corporation, where she served as a Human Resources/Office Manager for 18 years. She was respected and loved by her coworkers for her professionalism and kindness.
Linda’s greatest joys in life were her family, her faith, and her friendships. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. Linda also had a passion for playing bridge and cherished the bond she shared with her lifelong bridge group, a circle of dear friends who had been playing together since 1975.
A loyal member of Dawson Street Baptist Church, Linda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was also a sustaining member of the Junior Service League, reflecting her commitment to serving her community.
Linda’s legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Her beautiful smile and positivity affected everyone around her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by everyone whose lives she touched.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Rev. Lee Waller officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. before the service.
