Graveside services for Logan Montgomery Lewis, Sr. will be held at Barnett’s Creek Baptist Church on Thursday Sept 17 at 1pm, Rev Steve Wooten will officiate. The service will be family only due to the Covid-19 rules. Mr. Lewis was born in Albany, Ga on Sept. 17, 1927, and he died at Centre Pointe Rehab Facility in Tallahassee, FL on Sept 12, 2020. He would have been 93 on the day of his burial. He was born as one of the five children of the late Joe F & late Dorothy B Lewis. On December 28th, 1952, he married Opal Faulkner, in Pine Park, GA. Logan was a graduate of the Ochlocknee School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture at the University of Georgia. His first job was as a County Extension Agent prior to joining his father Joe and brother Billy Joe in Joe F Lewis & Sons Contractors which later became Lewis Enterprises. Logan led an active and long life with many interests in his business and personal life. Logan was a youth coach for many years, entrepreneur, conservationist, sportsman, community volunteer, church & civic Club leader, Master 4-H Club member, volunteer Colonel on Gov. Carl Sanders staff, member of Peanut Brigade of President Jimmy Carter’s campaign for President, 67 year member of Thomasville Noon Kiwanis Club, tree farmer, Master Iron Wash Pot Chicken Pilau Chef, Master old Style BBQ chicken chef, lifelong love of the Braves, GA Bulldogs and Central Yellow Jackets. He was a proud Life Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and oldest member of Thomasville Babe White Chapter, historic preservationist, early investor in restoring legacy homes in Tockwotten Historic District, earned one of the first Florida Statewide General Contractor’s License in 1968, world traveler, early investor in AFLAC, philanthropist, US Navy Surgical Corpsman in World War II and a member of the “ Greatest Generation.” Survived by sons Monty Lewis and Jody Lewis (Jaymie), grandchildren Jake, Jackson and Raymie Lewis, sisters Joy and Mary, sister in law Dorothy B Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased in death by wife Opal Faulkner Lewis, brother William J.(Billy Joe) Lewis and sister Lurlie L. McRae. The family will plan a POST COVID Celebration for the wonderful life and legacy of Logan Lewis at a future date.
