Lois Adelaide Demarest Jackson

Memorial services for Lois Adelaide Demarest Jackson, age 101, will be held at 4:00PM on Thursday August 15, 2019 in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Andy Daughtry officiating. Mrs. Jackson passed away on August 6, 2019 at Center Point Health and Rehab in Tallahassee, Fl. Lois Adelaide Demarest Jackson was born in a small coal mining town in East Mauch Chunk , Pa. to Lois Jane Davis (born in England) and Harry B. Demarest on August 5, 1918 (delivered by her father…the Dr. decided to walk). She went to and graduated from Central High School in Newark, NJ and then went to work at Prudential for 5 years, before marrying (my Bob) Robert J. Jackson on May 16, 1942 at the Presbyterian Church in Newark , NJ by Dr. Clee. Because of WWII, Bob left the defense plant, enlisted and was called immediately. Lois worked in the same defense plant as Bob from 1942 until his return in 1945 when the war ended. Three wonderful children all born in So. Orange, NJ. Wayne Douglas in 1947 and twins, Craig Robert and Christine Lois in 1949. Their son Craig passed away on October 11, 1971 when he was 22 from a congenital heart condition. Lois worked for the Broward County School Board in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. for almost 20 years and sang with Sweet Adelines in chorus and a quartet. They moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Sebring, Fl, then to Monticello, Ga. before moving to Ochlocknee, Ga. where Bob and Lois joined the First Baptist Church in Thomasville. Lois enjoyed singing in the Adult Choir as well as the Young At Heart Choir that sang at different area nursing homes every Wednesday. Lois’s husband, friend, and soul-mate Bob passed away on February 9, 2001 and on November 6, 2003 she moved from Ochlocknee to the Greentree Apartments in Thomasville. She is survived by her oldest son Wayne Robert Jackson of Jacksonville, Fl; her daughter Christine Lois Hearn, married and living in Glasgow, Scotland; niece Tracey married and living in Brick, NJ. She is preceded in death by many relatives and beloved family members including her brothers Willis Demarest when he was 12 and Harry A. Demarest who was living in West Chester, Pa; son Craig Robert Jackson and a nephew Scott Springer.
