Lois McRee Monteith, age 93, of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, February 18th with family and friends praying for her. She was born in Eustis Florida on November 18, 1930 to Joseph and Hattie McRee, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Joe Monteith September 20, 1953 and they spent the next 67 years happily married until his passing in 2020. She spent her life serving others as a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Thomasville, an Assistant Librarian at Douglas Middle School, and a Teller at Suntrust Bank. She and Joe spent their retirement years traveling to craft shows across the southern states where they sold photos, hand-woven baskets, and post office box banks. She enjoyed working with her hands on a variety of crafts and sharing her creations with those closest to her in a generous act of love. She will be missed.
She is survived by her son, Ralph Monteith (Lisa Breese); brother, Bobby (Marilyn) McRee; grandchildren: Brian (Letoya) Monteith, Matthew (Sara) Monteith, Michael (Ashlee) Monteith, and Holly (Brad) Reiman; great grandchildren: Sevanna, Orin, Emerson, Luke, Isla, Walker, and Levi; Cindy Monteith and Cathy Buie, the mothers of her four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Monteith; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Joan McRee; sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Jim Dalton; and son, David Monteith.
A service will be held on Sunday, February 25th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 10526 US-84, Thomasville, GA.
