Lois Darlene Neighbors

July 20, 1961 — August 13, 2015

Funeral services for Lois Darlene Neighbors, 54, of Meigs, will be 10:00AM, Monday, August 17, 2015 at Meigs Mennonite Church Gym. Born July 20, 1961 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Alva and Iva Yoder (Zook). She married Joseph Ray Neighbors December 17, 1983. During her growing up years she grew to love baking while working at her parent's bakery. She was instrumental in the starting of the Breadwagon (in 2002 located in Thomasville, Ga) by creating many of the cake recipes. She completed the RN program at Southwest GA Technical College in May 2011 at the age of 49. During and after college she worked for the US Postal Service in Meigs, Ga and developed friendships with those in the community and fellow co-workers. She thrived at being a nurse on the Nephrology floor at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga. Lois had a quiet, peaceful spirit and touched many people throughout her life. She believed the most important things in life were not your job, bank account, or the car you drove, but your relationship with Jesus and the positive impact on those around you. After an 8 month battle with stomach cancer she passed away on August 13, 2015. The weeks leading up to her passing many people expressed their appreciation and amazement of her positive and joyful spirit. She is survived by: Spouse, Joseph Ray Neighbors of Forest, VA; children, Kathy Faye Neighbors and Carolyn Beth Neighbors of Greeley, Colorado. John Michael Neighbors and Kimberly Dawn Neighbors of Meigs, GA; grandchildren, Ryan Michael Neighbors of Meigs, Ga; mother, Iva Maust Yoder Zook of Floyd, VA; brothers and sisters, David Yoder of Floyd, VA, Ruth Yoder of Floyd, VA, Anna Marie Nissley of Thomasville, GA, Esther Summers of Floyd, VA, Mary Ellen Nissley of Floyd Va, Judy Martin of East Earl, PA and Daniel Zook of Morgantown, PA; and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by father, Alva Yoder; step-father, Henry Zook; sister, Becky Sauder. The family will receive friends 5p.m. until 7p.m. at the Meigs Mennonite Church Gym on Sunday, August 16, 2015.
