Lorene Parramore Malone Davis

December 30, 1916 — July 30, 2010

Services for Anne Lorene Parramore Malone Davis, 93, of Thomasville, Georgia will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the family gravesite in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bob Dixon of First United Methodist Church will give the eulogy. Her death was the result of "adult failure to thrive" after successful surgery to repair the hip fracture she sustained from a fall. She received caring support from both the staff and doctors at Archbold Hospital and the nurses and therapists at Camellia Gardens all of whom were hoping for her recovery and return to her home at Woodleaf Assisted Living Center. In her final days she received wonderful caring ministrations from the nurses and volunteers of United Hospice. Born in Whigham, Georgia on December 30, 1916, to the late Annie Sellers Parramore and Olen J. Parramore, she was the oldest of their four children. She lived most of her life in Thomasville except for the years following World War II when she and her husband, Judson Perry Malone, lived in San Antonio, Texas, Chicago, Illinois and Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada returning to make Thomasville their permanent home in 1954. Mrs. Davis was pre-deceased by her first husband, Judson Perry Malone and her second husband Ellis P. Davis as well as daughters, Anne Malone Moon and Rebecca Malone. Mrs. Davis resided at Woodleaf where she happily enjoyed life visiting with friends, reading and appreciating the care and concern she received from the Woodleaf caregivers and staff during all the years she lived there. Prior to moving to Woodleaf, Mrs. Davis was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband Ellis Davis. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her extended family and is survived by: her daughter, Barbara Malone of Atlanta, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, Judson and Christina Malone of Columbia, Maryland; a step-daughter and her husband, Linda Davis Goodwin and Jimmy Goodwin of Columbia, S. C.; a step-son, Ellis Paul Davis of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren, their spouses; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings, John W. Parramore, Evelyn Parramore Sweat and Dorothy Parramore Saxon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to United Hospice, 407 Cowart Avenue, Valdosta, Georgia 31602 or to the First United Methodist Church of Thomasville, 425 North Broad Street, Thomasville, GA 31792. The visitation will be at Allen and Allen from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning preceding the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
