Funeral services for Louie Hobson Hicks, Jr., 81, of Thomasville will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mr. Hicks died on December 17 in Thomasville. Born March 20, 1930 in Ochlocknee, he was the son of the late Louie Hobson Hicks, Sr and Mattie Hicks Heath. Mr. Hicks is married to Frances Bryant Hicks, who survives. He was retired from CSX railroad where he worked at a switchman. Mr. Hicks served in the United States Army and Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and was a member of Dawson St. Baptist Church. Also surviving are sons G. W. Michelle Griffin of Thomasville, Charlie T. Angie Griffin of Ochlocknee; daughters Faye Griffin Lamar Miller of Thomasville and Debbie Griffin David Mims of Tallahassee. Also surviving are grandchildren, Natalie and Jamie Wright, Chad and Mary Ellen Miller, Alison and Patrick Shuneman, John and Luewin Griffin, Ashlie and Brett Cohen, Kimberly and Kyle Jason, Heather and Clint Daughtry, Christi and Daniel Rowan and 6 great grandchildren. Other survivors include his step mother, Wilma Hicks of Ochlocknee; brothers Dennis Tina Hicks of Lawrenceville, GA, Victor Hicks and Gary Teresa Hicks of Ochlocknee and sisters, Lynn Rick McKnight of Frederick, MD, Connie Michael Key of Durham, NC and Kathleen Hancock of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Sidney Griffin and great grandson, Griffin Wright. Memorial contributions may be made to Dawson St. Baptist Church, 1025 N. Dawson St., Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Monday night at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
