It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Louise Mercer Blane, on October 22, 2024. She passed peacefully in the warmth of her home, surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To know Louise was to love her. She was the very embodiment of love and kindness.
Louise loved to learn and found great joy in reading, studying the many cultures of the world, gardening, listening to music, dancing, cooking, and watching westerns. Yet, her greatest passion lay in her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her husband, Paul, was the love of her life, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2015. Her unwavering kindness, steadfast faith, and deep devotion to her family left an unforgettable mark on everyone she met. She believed whole-heartedly that love could conquer all, and she filled her life and those around her with laughter, compassion and boundless generosity. Her legacy of strength and love will live on in the lives of all who were privileged to know her.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Willam Henry Mercer and Ruby Gladys Stallings (nee Griffin), of Moultrie, GA; husband, Paul Chris Blane, of Valdosta, GA; brother, William Joel Mercer, of Moultrie, GA, and bonus son-in-law Gary Huneycutt (Melissa Blane), of Williamsburg, VA.
She is survived by her children Maria Mallory (Bill), of Fleming Island FL; Melissa Blane, of Williamsburg, VA; Paul Blane, Jr (Kim Brou), of Ocean Springs, MS; Mark Blane, of Valdosta GA; and stepdaughter, Danise Watson (Doug Thompson), of Valdosta GA.
Louise leaves behind a cherished legacy in her 3 grandchildren; Leah Wickman (Travis), Elena Anthony (Cody), and Christina Medis (Michael), as well as her 8 great-grandchildren; Brooke Boley, Brynlee Boley, Isabella Wickman, Aiden Anthony, Garrett Anthony, Mila Anthony, Maddox Medis, and Blane Medis. She is also survived by her treasured sister-in-law, Elaine Vafiadis, of Laguna Niguel, CA, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
