A private family graveside service will be held for Louise Mitchell Golden, 99, of Thomasville with Rev. Ronnie Wills officiating. Mrs. Golden passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. Born January 25, 1923, in Thomasville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jones and Martha Mallette Mitchell. She was a 1941 graduate of Thomasville High School. Following her graduation, Mrs. Golden moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation under J. Edgar Hoover for several years before returning to Thomasville.
On April 18, 1946, she married Jefferson (Jeff) Monroe Golden, Jr., of Thomasville, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for 55 years. She was a member of several organizations including the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, Junior Service League, Garden Club, Thomasville Landmarks, and Thomasville History Center. An avid golfer, Mrs. Golden was a former Senior Ladies Champion at Glen Arven Country Club where she was a member since 1946. She also won many bowling competitions.
She is survived by a son, Jeff Golden III, of Madison, FL; daughters Louise M. Golden, of Atlanta, GA; Martha G. Foster (Brad) of Ft. Wayne, IN; Patricia G. Blanton (Clayton) of Thomasville; sister-in-law, Ethel Scott Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; nieces Della G. Spence (Rodney) of Thomasville; Scotty Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; Mallette M. Faherty (Tim) of Portland, OR; Linda G. Moore of Thomasville; Nita G. Penland (Jim) of Winchester, TN; Charlotte G. Rumble (Neal) of Dothan, AL. Mrs. Golden was preceded in death by her sister, Eva M. Kilburn, and her brother, Sam Mitchell. Her nine grandchildren are Jeff Golden IV of Alpharetta, GA.; Leigh Golden of Denver, CO; Danielle H. Powell of Smyrna, GA; Katie Golden (Allen Hurst) of Seattle, WA; Brad Foster, Jr. (Krissie) of Peoria, IL; Jennifer Foster (Michael De Winter) of Ft. Wayne, IN; Christine F. Steed (Sam) of Ft. Wayne, IN; Sarah B. Detwiler (Justin) of Vestavia, AL; Julie B. Brown (Austin) of Jackson, WY; Mrs. Golden also has eleven great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff members of Southern Pines Senior Living, Kindred Health Care, WestCare and Bethany Hospice Care.
