Lucile F. Bannister

Services for Lucile Frances Bannister, 85, of Thomasville, GA, will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Dawson Street Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mrs. Bannister passed away on December 24, 2013 in Thomasville. Born August 27, 1928 in Moultrie, GA, she was the daughter of the late James Russell Belcher and Laura Ellis Belcher. On August 31, 1946, she was married to Marvin L. Bannister, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Bannister retired from the Thomas County ASCS office after providing assistance to area farmers for over 30 years. Survivors include sons Dr. Ron M. Bannister and wife Susan, Johnny Bannister and wife Patti, and Dennis Bannister and wife Katy, all of Thomasville; grandchildren Leanne and husband Til Culbreth, Mary Grace and husband Dr. Rick Murphy, all of Thomasville; Dr. Laura and husband Robert Pittman of Franklin, TN, Tyler Bannister of Thomasville, and Kate Bannister of Atlanta GA; great grandchildren John Daniel Culbreth, Ryan Garrett Pittman, and Ann Rollins Murphy; brothers Frank Belcher of Moultrie,GA and Ed Belcher of Pulaski, VA; and sister Edna Shanahan of Glen Burnie, MD, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers J.R. Belcher and Albert Belcher and sisters Mary Shehane and Helen Henning. Mrs. Bannister is survived by many special friends, including those from her work and her church. The family is grateful for all the love, care, and special attention given by all of the staff of The Suites of Woodleaf. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6PM to 8PM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dawson Street Baptist Church,1132 N.
